Hey! Where's my date? You didn't forget about me did you?
[Look who can only dig up the confidence after getting assured he'd still be interested, ha ha, Izabel stop fake dating the people you want to be friends with.]
I don't mind. We can still do some kinda dinner if you want and I'll just pretend. Or not! I really just want to go out and talk with you and get to know you so we should do whatever you think is fun.
It takes a second for him to calm down and remember where he is, still not completely used to the new room. With a groan he drags a hand over his face, completely awake in the middle of the night. It was so dumb. He was so dumb. Who the hell wakes up from nightmares at this age?
He could just turn over and go back to sleep but... He can't stop the compulsion and he rolls over to look at Okuyasu sleeping soundly on the floor. It's reassuring to see and that makes him feel extra dumb. It was the equivalent of checking under the bed for monsters and he wasn't a kid. Honestly, he should be over this.
But. Instead of turning back over and pretending like this never happened he kicks a leg out from under his cover to shove at Okuyasu until he wakes up. This is the best way to do this.]
He's asleep, and he's not a light sleeper. Even on the floor - tonight and every other night, as carefully agreed - he's fairly comfortable in the nest of blankets they've thrown carefully down, so: Josuke stirring and making noise above him doesn't register to him at all.
It even takes until the third kick for him to mumble something about fucking off already before he rolls halfway over and right into Josuke's leg, ironically. A sleeping genius he is not. That gets him to finally crack an eye open and squint in the dark at the--foot? In his face?
[Each kick has more oomph than the last when Okuyasu continues to not react. He's two seconds away from actually throwing a real kick into the mix when he hears the muffled reply. Finally. Another wave of relief hits him again as he hears his friend's voice and again he can't help but think he's being so dumb about this.
Then it hits him that he has no idea what he wants to say in the first place.
In the face of such crisis Josuke lets his leg dangle off the side of the bed in his face as he races through potential reasons he wanted him up in the first place. It's the middle of the night what is there even to talk about? It was a jerk move, wasn't it? Uh.]
[After a couple seconds Okuyasu shifts again, shouldering Josuke's foot out of his face and rubbing at his eyes with the back of his hand. What... time is it. Why does everyone want to talk to him after he's already gone to bed?
But he's still half-asleep and not really thinking about that at the moment, luckily.]
Nnnnh sorta. [... he says, as he audibly flops face-first back onto his floor pillow. Josuke... bro.] Stop kicking me.
[Honestly, he should just shut up and let Okuyasu go back to sleep before he is stuck as painfully awake as Josuke is. That would require going back to sitting in silence thinking about what woke him up though.
So, he swings his leg back under the warmth of the cover and leans at the edge of the bed, arms crossed in front with chin resting on his his arms, looking down at Okuyasu. He is at least talking quietly this time as opposed to the abrupt loudness before.]
I'm not kicking you. [Anymore. Nothing about this situation has changed though he still has nothing he wants to say so he just goes with the first thing to come to mind.] Uh, do you need anymore pillows?
[Ah. Aha. There it is, yes — and for a few seconds, she just kind of sits and looks at what he's written, and finds herself a comfortable place to sit down and curl up where Arnold can sidle in next to her.]
Yeah.
It's like if creepy Kira-senpai showed up from back when we were in high school. I'd feel that way too.
[She's trying to talk him down, he thinks immediately, and he's angrier for it. He doesn't want to be talked down and he's typed most of a line he'll probably regret before he stops. Deletes it. Reads her words again.
... She definitely is, but not in a shitty way. So.]
u get it
u kno someone out theres going to be like noooo hes just a little kid but i dont care. u see the way hes talking to people
Yeah. People will say he hasn't done it yet but that doesn't make him a different person to you. Or make it so you can forget about what happened to all the people he hurt because of it.
It's kind of almost worse because you look at him and you don't think "oh, maybe there's a chance something will change, it'll go different." You just think, "I know what you're going to do in ten years, twenty years, you're going to ruin my life and you don't even have the decency to know it yet."
It's like looking at a bomb and knowing exactly when it's going to explode and kill you.
She didn't tell me why because that's your business [They love and respect you, buddy.] but I've been checking in on a few people. I saw her talking to him and wanted to her to know what she was getting into. Didn't take us long to realize there was more to the story than either of us knew.
I'm sorry about whatever he did. Or does, whatever. Time is dumb. Everything is dumb.
